Burger buns

Burger buns are a type of soft buns with a round shape, neutral taste and covered with sesame seeds. Try to make them once at home and we promise that you will never buy burger buns from a grocery store ever again!

Prep time: 3 hours

Ingredients for 6 people

What do you need?

  • 280 gr whole milk, plus extra for brushing

  • 40 gr sugar

  • 15 gr fresh yeast

  • 300 gr all purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

  • 200 gr manitoba flour (or an additional 200 gr all purpose flour)

  • 20 gr extra virgin olive oil

  • 10 gr salt

  • 1 egg beaten

  • 1 spoon sesame seeds

How to proceed?

  1. Add flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and oil into a large bowl and gradually pour in the milk mixing with a wodden spoon until you have a smooth dough.

  2. Transfer the dough into a floured surface and knead until elastic and shiny.

  3. Leave the dough in a warm place and let it rest for 2 hours.

  4. Spray 2 baking sheets with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.

  5. Divide the dough into six equal parts (around 80/90 gr each) and shape each piece into a tight smooth ball.

  6. Transfer to prepared baking sheets leaving plenty of space between the buns. Cover with a tea towel or lightly greased plastic wrap and let it rest for one hour.

  7. Heat the oven to 180 °C.

  8. Prepare the egg wash by mixing the egg with two tablespoons of milk.

  9. Uncover buns, press them gently, brush the tops with egg wash ond scatter over the sesame seeds.

  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until risen and lightly golden.

  11. Leave to cool completely, then serve.
