We have quite a few trifle versions; recipes can vary from family to family but the traditional trifle ingredients remain the same: Spongecake or Ladyfingers, Sherry or other spirits, jam, custard, whipped cream, and garnishes of fruit, nuts, or grated chocolate.
This English trifle recipe is one we have always loved: it is the recipe that our dear English friend Nora prepares for Christmas and we have modified it to a children's version: Nora uses cherry brandy to wet sponge cake or ladyfingers but we have used a non-alcoholic cherry syrup.
What do you need
a dose of custard
200 g of whipped cream
50 g of flaked dark chocolate
100 gr ladyfinger biscuits
20 Cherries in Syrup
Chwrry jam
Cherry syrup (with the addition of cherry brandy or kirsch if there are no children)
How to proceed
When you have prepared all the ingredients you will only have to compose the dessert.
We have chosen single portions but it is also possible to use a single bowl.
The first layer will be of whipped cream, then ladyfingers soaked in syrup and a little jam, then another layer of custard with some amearena and chocolate flakes.
Continue in this way until the glass or bowl is filled. decorate the last layer with tufts of whipped cream, chocolate flakes and cherries. There are many variations of trifle: you can also use fresh fruit, strawberries, blueberries or raspberries
