Onion Skin Dyed Easter Eggs: A great way to celebrate easter with kids

Did you know the Easter bunny tale? it can become a magical treasure hunt in search of an egg with a different color every day! Before teh treasure hunt the tradition is to colour the eggs!

We suggest this natural way to dye Easter Eggs that is easy and fun to do with your kids. lepp on reading the recipe ! You can choose from a variety of herbs and spring flowers to make your design with the most beautiful effects!

Prep time: 20 mins


What do you need?

  • Eggs: white or light brown as much as you need.

  • Yellow and red onion skins.

  • 2 teaspoons of white vinegar

  • Water

  • Herbs and flowers for decoration

  • White cotton fabric or nylon stocking

How to proceed?

  1. Place onion skins in a large pot.

  2. Clean the eggs.

  3. Cut the fabric or stocking into squares that are big enough to wrap well the egg.

  4. Wet the eggs slightly and apply leaves or flours that you chose for decoration.

  5. Wrap the decorated egg with the piece of fabric or stocking and tie both ends.

  6. Add the eggs to the pot with the onion skin. add water.

  7. Add the vinegar and bring to boil over medium-high heat.

  8. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.

  9. Carefully remove the eggs from teh pot. Allow to cool. Remove the fabric/stockings and design pieces.

  10. For extra shine you may rub the eggs with some olive oil.
