Squid balls

Easy, quick and delcious! A family favourite .

Cooking time: 10 mins

Prep time: 15 mins

Ingredients for 4 people

What do you need?

  • 300 gr squids

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 2 tablespoon of parsley

  • 1 egg

  • 4 tablespoons of bread crumbs

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • Pepper to taste

  • 2 cups of flour

  • Vegetable oil for frying


How to proceed?


  1. Place squid, garlic, parsley, egg, breadcrumbs, pepper and salt into the bowl of a food processor.

  2. Blend the ingredients until it reaches a paste consistency.

  3. Form the mixture into balls using two spoons or wet hands.

  4. Pass the balls in the flour.

  5. In a pan, heat the oil to the right temperature. Fry the balls until golden brown.

  6. Drain on a plate covered with absorbent paper.

  7. Serve while hot with a delicious homemade mayo or a creamy guacamole.

Notes:

  • Remember the key to having the perfect tastiest fried food is heating the oil to the right temperature. Between 175°C and 185°C is generally considered the best frying temperature. A useful trick to know if the oil reached the right temperature is to place the handle of a wooden spoon in the oil. The oil is ready when bubbles begin to appear around the tip of the handle.

  • Do not overcrowd the pan, fry few squid balls at a time.
